L.L. Bean has recently announced that it will no longer be offering its generous 100% satisfaction guarantee return policy.
Returns will now only be accepted for one year and with proof of purchase. It will, however, continue to replace products for manufacturing defects. The company will also now require a $50 minimum purchase for free shipping.
This is due to growing abuse and fraud of the policy.
The numbers are staggering,” CEO Steve Smith told The Associated Press. “It’s not sustainable from a business perspective. It’s not reasonable. And it’s not fair to our customers.”
